Let's Learn Dashas! A Vedic Astrology Study Group

Let’s get together for a discussion about the Dasha system of Vedic Astrology. This is a continuing series of meetings covering interpretation of Vimsottari Dashas, and we are using a free text available online to help us organize topics and structure our discussions. This is a study group and everyone can prepare for each meeting using their own additional sources & please share with the group any sources about the Dasha System you’ve found helpful.

In our first meeting, we will be focusing on the topics covered in
Dasha Phal, Chapter 2. p. 5-9 (the remainder of the chapter is tables)
Topics for discussion include
-the Benefic & Malefic planets in the context of dasha periods,
-Deeptadi Avastha, Baladi Avastha, Jagratadi Avastha
-Which house lords are Benefic/Malefic, i.e. functional Benefic/Malefics

If you are new to the Dasha concept, you might want to read Chapter 1 as well which explains the mechanics of the technique or you may want to familiarize yourself with “what is a dasha?” before studying the topics in Chapter 2.
