Please join us to enjoy Metro Vancouver Regional Parks annual Perseid Meteor Shower Watch at Aldergrove Regional Park. It is the only night of the year that overnight camping is allowed in this park which makes this a very magical experience for all ages.
Metro Vancouver Regional Parks puts on a great event with lots of activities for all ages. There will be a Music Amphitheater where an artist will play and sing ballads about the star mythology stories. There will be a wishing tree, crafts and face painting tent as well as a 1.175 km lantern walk through the park with an observing site manned by Pacific Telescopes as well as two other nature stations manned by Metro Park staff.
If you intend on bringing an RV you can arrive as early as 5 pm and must be in your spot before 8 pm. Tenters should try to be there by 8 as well.
Members of RASC and Fraser Valley Astronomy Club will have telescopes in the field south of the parking lot. We will be there as long as the weather co-operates. We will also be giving talks on various astronomy topics in our tent.
The Planetary Society, Science World and the HR Macmillan Space Centre will also have displays on hand.
We do not charge for our portion of the event, however Metro Parks charges a nominal fee of $2 per head to cover toilet rentals etc.
Hope to see you.
Event is RAIN OR SHINE..
