"Astronomy for Everyone" Star Party at Sky Meadows
Hosted by Washington (DC) Area Astronomy Meetup
Details
Sky Meadows is a great site for astronomical observing under dark, star-filled skies, away from city lights. Admission is free, but parking costs $5/vehicle. NOTE: No admittance to the park after 9:00 pm!
Feel free to use the comments section to arrange carpooling/meeting locations! Recommend making meeting arrangements in advance of the event; it can be difficult to find group members in the dark.

Astronomy for Everyone
Time: 7:30 p.m. To 10:00 p.m.
Location: Historic Area
Description: Our evening of space exploration begins with our half-hour Ranger-led "Junior Astronomer" program for children ages 5-12. Immediately following the children's program, join volunteer Ambassadors from NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab for a half-hour multimedia presentation on the latest in the United States' space research. Then, get yourselves oriented to the celestial skies with a 15-20 minute 'sky tour' by our Volunteer Star Guide.
For the remainder of the program take advantage of Sky Meadows' dark skies by looking at deep space objects through telescopes provided by volunteers. Have your own telescope? Feel free to bring your scope for your own sky exploration.
Note: No entrance to the program after 9:00 p.m. In the event of rain or clouds, only the "Junior Astronomer" and multimedia presentations will be provided. Parking for this program is $5.00 per vehicle.
