Join us as we participate in a public stargazing event at Rock Creek Park! This is a no-host event, but there will be telescopes.

If it's rainy or very cloudy, no telescopes :( but the planetarium should still have a show about an hour before.

We won't have any planets to see, but we will be keeping an eye on T-Corona-Borealis, a star that may go nova over sprint/summer/autumn this year.

Details from site:
Exploring the Sky is an informal program that for over 70 years has offered monthly opportunities for anyone in the Washington area to see the stars and planets through telescopes from a location within the District of Columbia.

The NPS holds an inside Planetarium session about an hour before the event

Sessions are held in Rock Creek Park once each month on a Saturday night from April through November, starting shortly after sunset. We meet in the field just south of the intersection of Military and Glover Roads NW, near the Nature Center. A parking lot is located immediately next to the field.

Beginners (including children) and experienced stargazers are all welcome-and it's free!
