Join the Gaithersburg Community Museum for an evening of celestial exploration at Observatory Park. This family-friendly event offers hands-on activities, telescope viewing, and engaging discussions about the wonders of the night sky. Whether you're a seasoned stargazer or new to astronomy, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
You are encouraged to register on the event website (https://www.gaithersburgmd.gov/recreation/parks-fields/observatory-park/skywatching-programs) so you can receive cancellation notices if the weather is not cooperating and this event is canceled.
Observatory Park will be dark, but please do not bring a bright flashlight; bring a red light as it will be less intrusive to other watchers. Adjust the brightness of electronic devices. Feel free to bring a blanket or folding chair for your comfort and snacks to enjoy during the events. Portable bathrooms will be available. There is no running water in the park. Alcohol is not permitted at events in City parks.
Limited parking for those with accessibility tags is available onsite. Parking is also available at the field at the corner of DeSellum & Rt. 355 – 2 blocks from the park.
