Talking astronomy, and observing Jupiter, Saturn, the Moon from Dubai Canal

Details

This event is free of charge and takes place tomorrow (Friday night).

The event agenda is to observe the planets via our telescopes. Currently Jupiter is at its closest position to Earth for this year and will appear clearly in a telescope along with it's 4 major moons.

We will also be pointing our telescopes on Saturn, and the Moon for a brief period of time which are also making an appearance in the night sky for this week.

The event takes place between 9 to 10 PM, and we will be following the timings strictly, so we request you all to kindly be at the location by 8:45 PM.

We have two special guests tomorrow 1) Pranvera Hyseni who is a graduate student of Planetary Studies from UC Santa Cruz and an astronomy popularizer and communicator from Kosovo (2) James Wehner, an engineer who worked on teams for some of the previous space missions, such as lunar landers, and space telescopes.

You will hear from Pranvera about her journey into astronomy, and she will share some interesting tidbits about the solar system. We might also do some Q/A depending on the time.

We have shared the exact location on the meetup page, you can access this location via car (there is plenty of 'kacha parking') or by foot from Business Bay metro station (20 minutes walk), but we prefer you take a taxi from metro due to the current weather.

We will update the description to have more details very soon so watch this space.
