The Milky Way Over the Bristlecone Pines (Camp at Grandview Campground)

Details

Let's head up to the White Mountains to take some photographs of the Milky Way over the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest. The plan is to carpool from my house in Lancaster early Saturday morning around 7:00AM and make the 3 1/2 hour drive to the Grandview Campground. (Campsites are $10.00 a night and cannot be reserved in advance.) There we will stake out our camp sites, and then head up to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest Visitor Center. After checking in with the rangers there, we can head up to one of the pine groves to scope out and plan our evening shoot. We can share dinner together back at the campground and then as the sun begins to set we can go back up to the groves and start setting up for the evening/morning shoot. (We have the option of bringing food up, or stopping along the way at Coppertop BBQ!) If we leave the campground by 11:00AM Sunday morning, even with a casual stop for brunch, we should be back in Lancaster by 4:00PM.
NOTE - Because of the early start time Saturday morning, all participants are invited to spend the evening at my home in Lancaster Friday night. I will make dinner (my address and the dinner menu will be posted about a month before the event). There are multiple bedrooms and three bathrooms in the house, so the beds will be first come first served, with those remaining welcome to break out their sleeping gear and grab a spot on the floor.
