Details

Welcome to our second Meetup for 2024! Following the success of our first Meetup, People’s Postcode Lottery have kindly offered to re-host us for another series of talks regarding event-driven software.

Our agenda for this session:

— 6pm, arrival with pizza and drinks

— 6:30pm, Paulė Akramaitė-Dean will explore communication patterns in event-driven systems, including choreography and orchestration.

— 7:15pm, break and networking

— 7:30pm, Phil Leggetter, “Introducing the Event Gateway” (intro below).

— 8:15pm, wrap up

Like our last event, pizzas will include vegan options. If there’s any other dietary requirements or questions, do let us know!

Intro for “Introducing the Event Gateway”:

As we engineer applications and their supporting architectures, patterns begin to emerge. These include common and best practices, required features and capabilities, and eventually, defined categories of technologies followed by frameworks and products that provide concrete implementations of all that has been learned.

Event-driven applications and architectures aren't new concepts but are undergoing a resurgence. As such, we're also seeing new EDA trends and technologies. In this talk, I'll propose a new category of product called the Event Gateway. A combination of capabilities and features that solve a number of common problems and assist us in effectively building resilient event-driven architectures.
