Porto has one of the most exciting independent food scenes in Europe right now. If you know where to look, there are small, passionate restaurants doing genuinely interesting things. These are often tucked away from the tourist trail and in my opinion, unfairly undervisited!

I started The Porto Table for two clear reasons: the first was to seek these places out, and the second is to fill their tables.

Every month we meet as a group of curious eaters, take over a long table at a different independent restaurant, and share a meal together. No chains, no hype machines. Only brilliant small businesses that deserve more people walking through their door, and food worth talking about.

For Edition 01, we're sitting down at Monteen — a neighbourhood star serving bold, Middle Eastern-inspired sharing plates in the heart of the city.

WHAT'S INCLUDED
A curated sharing menu served to the centre of the table — mezze, starters, mains, dessert, and a welcome drink.
Expect: homemade bread, hummus & labneh, burnt eggplant, cauliflower, fish shawarma, sea bream, beef kebab, a drink and dessert to finish.
