Book Discussion - "Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience"

Details

As an atheist I am continuously reminded of how precious each moment of my life is. I do not have the luxury of expecting some sort of eternal life after I am dead. Largely because of this I am constantly trying to figure out how to get more out of my life, how to optimize my experience of life. Recently this ongoing search led me to the book "Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience" by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi (try saying his name five times really fast). I'm about half way through it and I am interested in discussing it with a group of like-minded folks (ideally who have read it or are in the process of reading it).

Paraphrasing from the book cover: Csikszentmihalyi has studied optimal experience and the state of consciousness called "flow" during which people typically experience deep enjoyment, creativity and a total involvement with life. Csikszentmihalyi demonstrates the ways this state can be controlled by ordering the information that enters our consciousness to greatly improve the quality of our lives.

Here is some more information on Flow and on Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi.
