Jared Diamond speaks on: What Can We Learn from Traditional Societies?

Details

Jared Diamond, bestselling author of COLLAPSE and Guns, Germs, and Steel, surveys the differences between "traditional" societies and industrial or post-industrial societies, with an eye to the question: what can we learn from the former that can make the world we live in a better place for all of us? People are basically all the same everywhere. "Not exactly," says Jared Diamond, in his rich new book, THE WORLD UNTIL YESTERDAY: WHAT CAN WE LEARN FROM TRADITIONAL SOCIETIES?, the successor to his multimillion-copy bestsellers GUNS GERMS AND STEEL and COLLAPSE.

Join us before the lecture in the Price Center East food court, Level 1. We will gather near the Tapioca Express. Event leaders will be wearing highly visible blue "Atheist" tee-shirts with red and white printing, and we'll have red meetup signs on the tables. Come anytime after 5:00 to say hi and mingle.

Lecture doors open at 6:15. Lecture and Q&A ends at 8:30. Book signings after.

**This event is free and requires no reservations. Parking on the UCSD campus is $4 after 5:30 PM .
