SWiFT Monthly Meeting - Engines of Outrage

Our monthly SWiFT meeting is coming up this Saturday. This time it's inspired by Engines of Outrage, a four-part podcast series distributed by NPR which everyone should listen to (part of a larger podcast series called Landslide). We are specifically going to focus on one story covered by that series, involving a woman named Nina Jankowicz. She was head of the short-lived Disinformation Governance Board, adjunct to the Department of Homeland Security (2022). Although the board was only advisory, the Right Wing Media Machine spun it as a jack-booted attempt to shut down Fox News and other media outlets at gunpoint. It's a case-study on how far right-wing media will lie in order to defend itself.
What can we do to counter the Outrage Engines? What will pierce the bubble of disinformation? I have two radical proposals which just might work. Don't miss it!
