Helping the homeless - Monthly Giveaway

We have a change of plans this month, due to the fact that we can no longer use our old location, and don’t yet have a new giveaway location.

At 9:00, we’re going to meet at the home of one of our volunteers, KC, who has the trailer with all the supplies. At his home, we’re going to pack bags of supplies to pass out to people. Where will we pass them out? That’s where you come in. Many of us know spots where a few housing-insecure people spend time. If you’re one such person, you can take a few bags with you to hand out to those people yourself sometime in the coming days.

If you’re available earlier than that, and have a large vehicle, we might be able to use your help with another task. We won’t be renewing our lease at the storage unit, so at 8:30, a few people are going to go to our storage unit to empty it out. If you’re interested in helping earlier than 9:00, please let me know, as we could use a few extra hands there, especially if you have a large vehicle.

Thanks everyone. Hopefully in April we’ll have a new location to do the giveaway the way we’re used to doing, and can help people face-to-face.

In this event, Charlotte Atheists & Agnostics partners with Atheists Helping the Homeless to give toiletries and clothing to the our neighbors in need in Charlotte. Volunteers can help serve food, set up and distribute clothing, help people pack bags with supplies, and set up/tear down. Its a good way to give back to the community and engage with the homeless in Charlotte to see that they are just regular people.
