Mississippi Gulf Coast Atheist and Freethinking Association Monthly Meetup

We meet at Harmony Hall.
[masked]th Avenue, Gulfport MS 39501
(North off Pass Road, about 1/3 mile East of Hwy 49)

We will celebrate DARWIN DAY - Again with guest speaker

Brian Axsmith, Professor of Biology at U of South Alabama.

His topic will be:

Triassic Park: How the Solite Quarry site proves deep time.

"I will discuss my research with several paleontological colleagues spanning over 20 years at the Solite Quarry Site on the North Carolina Virginia Border. This amazing fossil locality preserves a 225 million year old giant lake environment including plants, insects, and even reptiles with the skin preserved. I will discuss how these fossils fit into the picture of evolution at this important time in earth history. I will also discuss how this work conclusively refutes the creationist idea of a young earth and the universal flood, and reaffirms many of Darwin's insights on evolution and the antiquity of the planet."

This will be a joint meeting with MS Gulf Coast Humanists :

(You need to enroll to get their announcements.)  Next will be their monthly social meeting at 4pm Sunday 24 February.  Likewise we can all join:

Humanist Ethical Atheist and Rational Thought Society

which does not hold local meetings but invites us to participate in public volunteer events like distributing Thanksgiving dinners to local people in need.

Including inactive and distant members who don't come to meetings our

MS Gulf Coast Atheist and Freethinking Association

MeetUP group has 150 people on their list.  They add anyone who enrolls on their web site and automatically remove people who never RSVP.

Any ideas for program? For future meetings?  Call or e-mail us with suggestions.
