Indeed, it's taken me alot of years to get it thru my head that democracy progresses in seemingly geologic time. Sheep being what they are, a bit 'slow', when rational thought seems so 'self evident' to me.

The state���s rights movement has been around long before the civil war��� Before we even had our constitution America was run by the ���Articles of confederation��� where all the states had control of their rights or lack of  and the national govt only controlled War and coinage.

Fortunately the states have been losing power ever since and the National Govt gaining it, especially post Civil war���. 

It���s not as bad as it seems, things have actually been moving in the right,, ahem,, left direction for 200 years���
