1st Athens iOS Meetup
Details
Hello,
We are excited to announce our first Athens iOS Meetup that will take place on December 12 @ 18:30 at Advantage FSE premises (map: http://bit.ly/2AJeA6s).
In our first meetup, Christos from Atcom will talk about Asynchronous Networking Using Promises In Swift and George from Advantage FSE will present us an on-premise crash reporting solution.
More details on each talk can be found bellow.
- Taming Asynchronous Networking Using Promises In Swift 4 - Christos Sotiriou
Description: HTTP networking on iOS is not hard. Good networking however, is. In this talk, we will examine a way on how to make asynchronous networking on iOS easier. We will get a glimpse at the capabilities of Promises combined with Swift 4's new JSON encoding methods, and will examine methods of combining them both to properly make parallel and sequential http requests. We will also take a look at how errors are handled during any part of the networking chain and how to avoid callback hell while doing so.

- Crash reporting on-premise using Sentry - Giorgos Katsimardos
Description: Many times bugs make it to production. Crash reporting tools help you jump into action, before your users even notice a problem. Many solutions out there offer such services on the cloud, but what happens if security and privacy are your highest concerns? We used Sentry, an open-source, error tracking software to set up a crash reporting solution in our own infrastructure. A solution that is offered for free. This presentation aims to describe the needed steps to setup an environment like that, to showcase Sentry’s features (recording events, tags, filtering events, breadcrumbs etc.) and the way it can help developers to respond to production bugs, quickly and effectively. We will also see, how Sentry can be easily integrated with other developer tools, be smoothly accommodated in a team’s development process and improve final user experience.
