Kubernetes Athens vol23

Details
We are pleased to bring you two talks this time. This event will be held in the offices of our sponsor Moro Technology, 28is Oktovriou 5, Omonia square, Stoa Trikoupi.
1st talk: Kubernetes API Highlight: Orchestrating a flow
Abstract: This presentation explores the power of Kubernetes REST API in managing and orchestrating complex workflows within a Kubernetes cluster. We will dive into a practical use case of provisioning resources, demonstrating how to effectively leverage the Kubernetes REST API for this purpose. The session will include hands-on examples using Postman to interact with the Kubernetes API, making API calls to manage cluster resources. Additionally, we will introduce Postman Flows, a feature within Postman that allows for the orchestration of a sequence of API requests.
Presenter: Christos Gkoros is a software engineer and architect with over 13 years of experience. He has worked on a variety of projects in different technologies and industries, always striving to find the best possible solution. He is currently working on the API space, exploring ways to help engineers and companies in the areas of API Design, API Management, and Strategy.
2nd talk: Kubernetes distribution challenges
Abstract: There are certain characteristics of the Kubernetes project that still render its distribution a challenge. The aggressive release cycle, the abundance of solutions in the same problem space, the massive ecosystem and saturated market are only the tip of the iceberg a vendor has to deal with. So, what is hidden in the submerged part of that iceberg? It is surprising how tightly entangled human nature and distribution mechanisms are. The urge for the latest, safest, fastest Kubernetes is only limited by the ingenuity and willingness of vendors to go the extra mile. This talk goes over:
- the not so obvious aspects of Kubernetes that vendors have to tackle
- the user needs that no one would admit
- state of the art solutions to distribution challenges.
Presenter: Konstantinos Tsakalozos is an Engineer Manager at Canonical. He has been working on open source software for the Ubuntu ecosystem for the past 8 years. He is the original author and maintainer of MicroK8s. Prior to Canonical he was with Microsoft - Skype working in the Big Data Group. Konstantinos holds a Ph.D. in IaaS resource allocation. He is also active in the Athens Kubernetes User Group.
