What we’re about
I started this group to find other African Americans who want more outdoor adventures such as hiking, zip lining, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, bike riding, sailing, hot air balloon rides, bi-plane rides, overnight camp outs, weekend getaways and more. The purpose is to bring together men and women who want to escape the daily humdrum and replace it with some fun, excitement and sometimes new and challenging experiences that are exhilarating, leaving you with lifetime memories. Our adventures will also help build your confidence, help you get or stay fit and healthy, all with a group of friendly and supportive people. The African American Adventurers is for you if you are black and ready to live life to it's fullest! Join us today...

**YOU MUST WATCH THE FILM ON YOUR OWN BEFORE THE EVENT**
Link to the film is in the info below.
This event is in collaboration with the Government Accountability Project. They are the international leader in whistleblower protection — from advocacy to litigation.
For this Special Virtual Documentary Night, in honor of National Human Rights Month, we are meeting to talk about the documentary, War on Whistleblowers. This film highlights cases where American government employees and contractors took to the media to expose fraud and abuse. In all cases the whistle-blowing was to the detriment of their professional and personal lives. Here is a link to where you can watch it for free.
Tom Devine (Government Accountability Project's Legal Director) will be joining us for a special guest Q&A!
Again, you must watch the film on your BEFORE the event. We will be meeting over Zoom, where we will break out into small discussion groups. We will do multiple rounds of small group discussion, then close out the night with a special guest Q&A! The Zoom information is listed below.
Meeting ID: 875 5525 6659
This event is posted in multiple meetup groups, and on Eventbrite, as well as with members of the Community Documentary Night email list. (Message me if interested in joining the email list) Therefore, THIS RSVP LIST IS NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE ATTENDING THE EVENT. So even if you only see one person RSVPed in this meetup group, there will always be others in attendance from other groups. We tend to have at least 20 on average. By inviting numerous groups that increases the likelihood that those in attendance will be from varying backgrounds and beliefs. This is done purposefully to provide everyone with the opportunity to hear a wide range of perspectives.
This event is open to all who are open to all. The one thing we ask is that people allow others to get their full thought out and that any disagreement is voiced in a civil way. Click >>HERE<< to check out the Community Documentary Night website for more info or links to previously shown documentaries.
Thank you and hope to see you there!
