Details
Well this is curious. Mars is 'burping' out methane from its sub-surface. But only at night. And it is not accumulating in the Martian atmosphere.
Why is methane important? Because it is believed to have helped make Earth habitable for the emergence and evolution of life...
We will be discussing the Martian Methane Mystery at our Atlanta Astronomy Club's August monthly meeting - everyone is welcome!
Our guest speaker is John Blankenhorn, a Chemistry PhD student at the Georgia Institute of Technology. While John's current research isn't space-related, he's always happy to chat about space science and the chemistry of other planets. We are very excited to have him along to do exactly that!
