dbt Meetups are networking events open to all folks working with data! Talks predominantly focus on community members' experience with dbt, however, you'll catch presentations on broader topics such as analytics engineering, data stacks, data ops, modeling, testing, and team structures.

🗣️Presentation #1: Using dbt to drive DataOps on a Data Science balanced team

Description: Walking through how we use dbt & DataOps in Home Depot Services Data Science to take a systematic, modular approach to data for ML. We take a foundation-first approach in the AI Hierarchy of Needs, using dbt to build the foundational data so Data Scientists can “SELECT * FROM some_ideal_clean_and_pristine.table_that_you_think_exists”, to minimize need for data cleaning in Pandas. We’re a balanced team of data engineers, data scientists, and product managers, building Data, ML, and Analytics products that feed into systems & reporting to drive action by our field sales & install workforce.

Speaker bio: Meet Brent Brewington, a data scientist at Home Depot working on building analytics and ML products for Outside Sales & Install Operations. Passionate about Lean Mgt and DataOps, Brent started the company's #data-engineering channel and hosts a monthly book club. Outside of work, Brent plays hockey & cello, enjoys backpacking trips, and loves to travel and try new restaurants with his wife.

🗣️Presentation #2: Modernizing Data Engineering at CFA

Description: Learn how dbt is helping CFA bring engineering velocity and increased collaboration to analytics initiatives.

Speaker bio: Aaron Reese serves in Chick-fil-A’s Digital Transformation and Technology department as an Enterprise Architect focused on Advanced Analytics. He’s responsible for putting the tools in the toolbox that make up the analytics ecosystem and has a strong passion for enabling high-performing teams to deliver with speed and excellence.

EVENT DETAILS:
The doors open at 4:45pm. Presentations begin at 5:30pm. Food and refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP and update status if unable to attend.

DIRECTIONS:
Feel free to park in the garage directly across from the entrance to the building. There is visitor parking on the first level. Additionally, the venue is walking distance from the Sandy Springs MARTA station. After entering the lobby through the glass front doors, continue past the two banks of elevators to the far hallway. Continue down the hallway and the large conference room will be on your right.
