Our August event is a matinee performance of the hit Broadway musical 'A Strange Loop' at Actor's Express and brunch in West Midtown.
About the play
‘A Strange Loop’ is a musical with book, music, and lyrics by Michael R. Jackson.
- The play won the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, premiered on Broadway in 2022, and won Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical at the 75th Tony Awards.
- The Actor’s Express Theater is staging the play through August 31.

Synopsis:
Usher is a black, queer writer, working a day job he hates while writing his original musical: a piece about a black, queer writer, working a day job he hates while writing his original musical. Michael R. Jackson’s blistering, momentous new musical follows a young artist at war with a host of demons — not least of which, the punishing thoughts in his own head — in an attempt to capture and understand his own strange loop.
