Smyrna Pride 10AM Hike Sat. 6/13

Welcome Smyrna, Marrietta, Vinings, East Cobb, and all LGBT Hikers to the Smyrna Pride Hike. The Smyrna Pride festival is an amazing small town Pride... Art, Music, Fashion, Food, and so much more to enjoy.

We will be meeting for the morning stroll at 10AM, a hour before the festival begins, to get some steps in and take in some of the culture and history of Smyna.
We will meet at the town square fountain where West Spring Street intersects Atlanta Rd. For reference the fountain is in the median between Adkins Park Tavern and Zucca Pizza.
We will then take a stroll south on Atlanta Road following the route of the Mountain to River urban trail, down to the Smyrna/Atlanta Trail. These are both essentially widened sidewalks. So, a low difficulty hike with some intersections to cross, but otherwise a suburban stroll to view some of the town's historic homes. We will visit the grounds of Reed House and the Taylor-Brawner Home.
It will be about a mile out and back. As always, everybody knows your own abilities, and this is an as you will at you own pace hike. This being Georgia water and sunsceen always a good idea.
Parking can be found with several lots off of both King St. and Village Walk. Note: Parking is complimentary in Smyrna's municipal lots and decks. However, time limits and/or fees may apply in specific merchant lots. So, as with anywhere be sure to check the signs before picking a lot.
The plan is to return to West Spring St in time for the start of the Pride Festval to enjoy some additional browsing of the local arts and entertainment.
Also as a bonus, the Smyrna/Marrietta lgbt Coffee group is hosting a Pride meet up there at Cafe Lucia starting at 11:00. I will be joining them for coffee and muffins for anyone who would like to get a refreshment after the hike.
