New Years Goals & Gremlins Hike at Island Ford

Start the New Year off right with an exploration of what you want out of 2021, and what "inner gremlins" may sabotage your dreams and enjoyment of the process. We will apply a new twist on the goal setting process to find what truly fulfills you, and then look at the "Mental Fitness" techniques you can use to keep yourself on tack and feeling great WHILE you reach your destination.
We’ll meet at Island Ford Trail along the Chattahoochee River. This is a fantastic trail with gentle slopes - great for beginner hikers, but with side trips for the more adventurous. :-)
There will be a mix of small group conversations, partner discussions, and personal reflection. Share as much or as little as you like.
This event is rain or shine, so be prepared. Good walking or hiking shoes are encouraged. Please leave pets, kids, tobacco products and business cards at home :-)
The walk will be approximately 1½ hours, following this format:
- Greeting and introductions
- Brief warm-up walk and stretch, with discussion about your goal for the day.
- The hike: Intermittent walking and conversations. Some conversations are with the entire group, some with a partner, some are personal reflection. What hills are you climbing in your life now? What slopes do you need to prepare for? What strengths do you possess that will aid you in navigating those life experiences? What will you do to ensure you arrive well? What pebbles in your shoes need to be removed to make for a successful journey?
- Final wrap-up, personal commitments, and social time (and maybe a game or two!)
