Atlanta Node.js February Meeting

Notice: New Location! New Time! Our meetings have moved next door to Atlanta Tech Village and will now start at 7pm.

Hello Peeps!

First I want to express my appreciation for BitPay who has sponsored us and provided us with a location for our meetings. BitPay has been instrumental in the success of this Meetup and they continue to contribute to it as well as the Node.JS community as a whole.

Predictive Analytics and the Internet of Things

Intel's release of the Edison and Galileo Gen 2 boards has put more power into microcontroller development boards than ever before. How do the Intel boards compare with other boards on the market? What does it take to prototype an IoT project? You'll get an intro to all these and more. In addition, you'll get an intro to Chain-Check, one of the winning projects from Intel's recent IoT Hackathon in Mountain View, California, performing machine learning algorithms on the boards to predict when your bicycle will need a tuneup. Whether you're an experienced hardware hacker or a hobbyist looking to see how to join in the Internet of Things buzz!

Clarence Chio went for 12 hackathons over 13 weekends this past summer, in an attempt to avoid ever having to cook meals for himself. He just graduated with a BS and MS in Computer Science from Stanford, focusing in Information Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, he currently works full time as a software engineer for a security startup - Shape Security, which he thinks will change the field of web security. As a hardware hacking amateur (read: noob), he is grateful to have been part of a team that won a hardware hackathon organized by Intel in September 2014, and travels around the country as an Intel community speaker, proselytizing the marriage of hardware and software development using Intel development boards.

Open Spaces is a discussion format that allows attendees to vote on and participate in conversations on topics chosen by the audience. It is a great way for you to talk about or just learn about a topic that you chose. It also allows other audience members to share their expertise.

After the meeting, we will meet at Industry Tavern for drinks and food. It is walking distance from the meeting at 3280 Peachtree Road.

Parking for the event is free and is located in the basement parking deck of Atlanta Tech Village.
