A society consists of like-minded people governed by their own norms and values within a dominant, larger environment- Welcome to the Atlanta Rock & Metal Society!
This meetup group is a judgement free zone, designed for all metro Atlanta fans of rock and metal music to come together and enjoy all things rock! What’s not to love about going to see great live shows with some good friends, right? We plan events that take us to a variety of the greatest live venues that Atlanta has to offer, as well as other gatherings that will allow us to chill and socialize as a group.
In the spirit of building a true Society we have a few basic rules:
• We require that all members attend at least one event in each calendar year, this is a MeetUp group after all!
• In the event that you amass 3 no-shows, we will give you the boot! It's inconsiderate and downright rude to stand up you fellow Society Members!
• We also require each user include a photo in their profile so that we may be able to identify you when you come to events.
So, if you are a fan of Rock/Hard Rock/Metal and, can abide by these rules ...Come rock out with us!

ARMS Hike at Sweetwater Creek
Sweetwater Creek Visitor Center (trail head), 1750 Mount Vernon Road (actually on Factory Shoals Rd.), Lithia Springs, GA, USBear witness... to the majesty of nature at Sweetwater Creek. The Yellow Trail follows the river and crosses bridges, leading to a loop around a hill, and then back along the river. The trail is approximately 3 miles. Much of the trail is flat. The hill has varying degrees of incline and that section is rated moderate to difficult.
The pace will be slow enough for everyone to enjoy, with breaks throughout the hike. It is estimated to finish the hike between 1.5-2 hours. But this will vary with the group pace. However, only you know yourself. If you are unused to hiking, a moderate trail might be difficult. While the pace and breaks will be adjusted for everyone, once started the only way back is to walk. Weather in mid DEC has a high in the 50s and a low in the 30s. Winter weather in Georgia can bring icy conditions, fog, and rain. Unless the weather is severe, the event is rain or shine.
Dress appropriately and bring water.
We will meet at the Interpretive Center. GPS has difficulty with area at times, recommend saving the directions. While there is limited parking at the center, there are additional parking areas nearby. As a State Park, there is a $5 parking fee, which can be paid at the entrance gate or the center. There are also numerous locally made goods at the center: pastries, honey, and cooking sauces. There is also water if you need it for the hike.
Afterward, we will meet at Cracker Barrel for brunch, only 8 miles from the park:

Everyone is welcome, regardless of one's levels of experience. Once again, only you know your limits. No one within ARMS is responsible if you are unprepared or engage in unsafe activities, to include but not limited to:
-Failure to properly hydrate
-Not bringing a raincoat
-Eating strange plants or mushrooms
-Harassing the wildlife (e.g. deer, snakes, The Predator)6 attendees
