If you enjoy walking through nature on a paved road, under mostly shade. This hikeis for you! However it is not for the faint at heart we will be walking a total of three or four miles! Depending on how the group feels and the weather .
The Silver Comet Trail is located northwest of Atlanta, Georgia, starting in Smyrna and traveling west through Cobb, Paulding, and Polk counties.
Features:
It's a paved, 12-foot wide trail, largely wheelchair accessible, with features like tunnels, trestles, and scenic views.
Activities:
It's a popular spot for walkers, runners, cyclists, rollerbladers, and horseback riders. It's also dog-friendly, with dogs required to be leashed.
History:
The trail is built on the former route of the Silver Comet passenger train, which operated from 1947 to 1969.
Points of Interest:
The trail passes through or near several towns, including Rockmart and Cedartown, and features landmarks like the Brushy Mountain Tunnel and the Pumpkinvine Creek Trestle
