🌈 Atlanta Pride Parade & Festival

June is Pride Month, but Atlanta celebrates in October! This is our first year attending the parade & festival together in support of our LGBTQ members and allies. It's a busy weekend and it can be tricky to meet up so we'll do our best to make it easy!

You can bring picnic blankets, food, families, hula hoops, flow arts, or frisbees, and offer free hugs to the people you meet. You can wear a "free hugs" t-shirt or bring a "free hugs" sign if that's something you want to participate in. But it's totally optional.

Duration:
We'll gather at 11am. The parade starts at 12pm and wraps around 3pm. Then, we'll head over to the festival grounds in Piedmont Park until 5pm --or later.

You are invited and encouraged to attend and meet the other members or split off and have your own adventure enjoying the spectacle.

Meeting Location:
TBA, probably at a fast casual breakfast or smoothie location near the parade route and Midtown Marta stop. Stay tuned! We'll create a group chat for everyone to communicate!

Bring:
Food, water, and picnic blanket! Wear layers in case you're sensitive to temperature, comfy shoes for walking around. Bring headphones or ear plugs if you are sensitive to sensory stimulation. Bring sunscreen and shades.

Transportation:
The best way to get to the Pride Parade is to arrive via MARTA on the Red or Gold Line. https://maps.app.goo.gl/SPCoyGNFFPz6RymDA

This is your fastest, easiest, and most headache free way to attend. You may also have luck taking Uber or Lyft, but it could get expensive.

Cost:
The parade and festival itself is free! There will be lots of food and beverage vendors to choose from and it's always good to have cash because of over-taxed mobile networks.

Participation:

• Let us know if you are interested in bringing flow arts toys (hula hoops, poi, etc) and teaching others how to use them!
• Let us know if you are interested in meeting new people through a "free hugs" initiative -- as a few of the organizers are happy join you!
• Let us know if you can bring a large food or beverage offering to share with the group!
