Customer Discovery for Startups

Details
Welcome to Startup Oasis!
Customer Discovery is the process of identifying and understanding your potential customers’ real problems, needs, and behaviors before you build a product or service. It's a core concept in Lean Startup methodology and is typically the first phase of Customer Development. This is one of the best ways to de-risk your startup.
We are hosting our first-ever customer discovery class based on the lean startup methodology for startup founders. This free workshop will be led by Brandy Nagel. She has led this workshop numerous times in-person, and we are proud to bring it online for the first time! She is a senior program manager at Georgia Tech’s Enterprise Innovation Institute (EI2) Global team and is committed to fostering innovation-led economic growth worldwide.
Agenda:
- Introductions and welcome remarks
- Business Model Canvas (framework for Customer Discovery)
- Q&A
- Customer Discovery (practical, with a small amount of theory)
- Q&A
- Closing remarks
- Breakout groups
FAQ:
Is this event free to attend? Yes - Startup Oasis events will always be free for anyone to attend. If you would like to donate, you can do so directly on our website. You can also talk to us about volunteer or sponsorship opportunities.
Do I need to be a startup founder to attend? No - if you are working full time elsewhere and have a startup idea that you'd like to pursue, this workshop will be super helpful. If you are an experienced founder, you'll also find value from the content. If you have no intention of starting a business and would like to just watch, that's ok too. Especially if you have another role in the startup ecosystem, like developer or marketer, you'll see the processes the founders have to go through to get the business off the ground.
Do we meet in person? We host our classic Find a Cofounder, Help or Join a Startup event in Atlanta, GA each month in Midtown at ATDC. This customer discovery class is hosted at ATDC 2-3 times per year.
Can I invite other people that I know? Yes - you can have them RSVP here on Meetup.
Content: We are looking for founders to be interviewed or people to interview founders for short videos. Let us know if you are interested!
