What we’re about

The intent of this group is to preserve the ability of the citizenry to be informed and able to think and act critically in a society where the need to make decisions about personal privacy and property is emerging as an essential skill in order for private citizens to secure themselves. One does not need to be an expert in the fields of computer science or mathematics in order to contribute to this group; one should only bring a desire to learn for the purpose of forming an independent, well-informed opinion, and share for the purpose of developing the means to be vigilant and to change the discussion of hacking from a nefarious one to a constructive, community-based source of strength and cohesion. If a new technocratic reality is emerging, what role will you have in it? The idea is to discuss current affairs in computation AND security, discussing their historical evolution to the present state, technical methods and strategies, and to act as an entry point for persons new to the topic to speak with those who are active in the topic. The idea would be that everyone participating would learn at least one new thing and at the same time leave with at least one intriguing question, with everyone having a greater understanding of the central topic and a greater sense of trust. Math, computers, and security are scary because we do not talk about them and we assume they are beyond us. Nothing is further from the truth. You are great at this stuff, even if you don't know it yet.
