THE LONG TERM EFFECTS OF NARCISSISTIC ABUSE: AN INFORMATIVE WORKSHOP ON THE CONSEQUENCES OF LONG TERM EMOTIONAL ABUSE

In this two hour workshop, the first in our Pop Up February Thursday night series, we will be discussing the physical and emotional effects of long term narcissistic abuse from a family member, intimate partner, friend or job situation.

In this safe, trauma informed environment, attendees will be guided into understanding the psychology of narcissism and the understood effects of manipulation tactics like lovebombing, hoovering, devaluing and discarding on the victim.

We will begin by studying the impact of childhood trauma on development including attachment issues, behavioral problems and delays in development before moving into the the individual effects of emotional abuse in the victim's:
* mental and emotional health
* physical health
* interpersonal relationships with others
* cognitive structure

The workshop will also give a brief overview into both PTSD and C-PTSD as the result of abusive relationships and some of the symptoms that might be experienced.

We will conclude with a discussion on how to manage the emotionally traumatic relationships in your life with an eye towards reduction of the harmful effects of abuse. The intention of this course is to provide attendees with a clear perspective backed by research for educational purposes.
