Take a Day Off: Tour of Camp Pendleton in Oceanside

Please Note: Read the directions very carefully below BEFORE you RSVP "Yes' for this event.

1. This is an all day event that requires that starts in San Juan Capistrano for the bus pick up and tour of Camp Pendleton in Oceanside. The tour starts at 8:30 AM, but you'll need to give yourself plenty of driving time to get there by 8:30 AM.

2. You will need to call: (949) 493-8444 to purchase your ticket in advance for this tour. The cost is $65 per person. The tour includes bus transportation and lunch. The tour will sell out quickly, so buy your ticket now.

3. This tour is being organized by the Historical Society of San Juan Capistrano. They are not related to Atlas Obscura. However, their tour involves visiting sites that may be of interest to people who enjoy going to Atlas Obscura types of points of interest.

On February 6, 2020, the San Juan Capistrano Historical Society is hosting the Annual Tour of the Rancho Santa Margarita y Las Flores Ranch House, the USMC Mechanized Museum and the Infantry Immersion Training Facility at Camp Pendleton. USMC Col.(ret) Jim Williams will be the onboard tour guide and will have many insightful stories about his career in the Marine Corps.

The cost of the annual Camp Pendleton Tour is $65 per person and includes luxury bus transportation, three tours and lunch at the Pacific Views Event Center on Camp Pendleton. The bus leaves the Los Rios Park parking lot promptly at 8:30 AM and returns to the same location around 5:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Society’s office in the O’Neill Museum, 31831 Los Rios Street or by calling the office manager, Chevon Vermuelen at (949) 493-8444. Tickets must be purchased in advance of the event and there is a limit of 56 available seats. Attendees are requested to wear comfortable closed toe shoes.
