What we’re about
Welcome to our fortnightly Sunday night online meetup where movement meets mindfulness! Join us for a one-and-a-half-hour therapeutic session that beautifully blends the principles of dance movement therapy with insights from Brené Brown’s "Atlas of the Heart."
We’ll explore and learn the emotions through engaging movement and body language activities. Our sessions will include a warm-up to get our bodies flowing, an inspiring theme from the book to guide our exploration, and lively group discussions to share our experiences.
We’ll also incorporate journaling and grounding activities to help you reflect and connect with your feelings. This is a welcoming space for everyone to learn, grow, and connect through the power of movement.
Who is the facilitator?
Chara is an intuitive dancer and former showgirl who has transformed her life’s challenges into a mission of helping others. As a survivor of domestic violence, she discovered the profound power of movement and emotional awareness as tools for recovery. This passion led her to complete 2 years of study in Dance Movement Therapy, and she is now a registered therapist with the DTAA.
Drawing from her lived experience and deep empathy, Chara works with children navigating ADHD, anxiety, or disabilities, as well as adults facing mental health challenges. Her practice is grounded in the principles of body language, self-awareness, emotional regulation, and self-expression, based on the Kestenberg Movement Profile and The Moving Cycle framework.

What is Dance Movement Therapy?
Movement Therapy is the psychotherapeutic use of movement to balance emotional, social, cognitive, cultural and physical well-being. It is a holistic, evidence-based therapeutic approach that draws from the fields of psychology, anatomy, movement dynamics, improvisation, creative practice and psychotherapy.
What is the goal of this group?
Our program aims to create a vibrant and supportive space where we can collectively explore and understand our emotions. By building emotional literacy, we empower ourselves and each other in meaningful ways. This initiative is not just about personal growth; it’s also a heartfelt contribution to our community. We warmly invite everyone to join us in this journey of connection and movement, as we discover new paths to enhance our well-being together.
