Whether you call Madeira home, are visiting for a while, or are joining us from somewhere else in the world, you're looking for something more than another networking event, happy hour, or sightseeing tour.
Atlas Round Table brings together eight strangers from different countries, professions, and life experiences for an evening of genuine connection.
A carefully chosen text gives us a shared place to begin, but the evening is really about the people around the table. There are no right answers, no pressure to perform, and no expectation that everyone will agree. Instead, you'll discover what happens when eight thoughtful strangers become genuinely curious about one another.
Every gathering is intentionally small. Eight seats mean every voice can be heard and every participant helps shape the experience.
To help create a welcoming atmosphere from the very beginning, we ask members to use a recognizable profile photo whenever possible. Conversations simply begin more naturally when we can put a face to a name.

Atlas Round Table is a modern literary salon for curious people who enjoy meaningful ideas, thoughtful discussion, and meeting people they almost certainly would never have met otherwise.
Atlas isn't about finding the "right" interpretation. It's about bringing your experience into conversation with the text and with one another.
Curious about the kinds of stories that inspire Atlas? You're welcome to read You Were Never Alone beforehand. It isn't required reading, but it offers a glimpse into the spirit of the conversations we share.
We'll begin with a short shared reading (no homework required), followed by 15 minutes of writing and a guided conversation. There are no right answers and no literary experience required—only curiosity and a willingness to engage.

Atlas is convened by Eleanor Lumsden, a writer and founder of Cultural Proficiency Exchange (CPX), where she helps global teams navigate culture and communication with greater confidence. Originally from Jamaica and most recently based in San Francisco, she now lives in Madeira, Portugal.Will there be future Atlas Round Tables?
