684 John Wesley Dobbs Ave NE suite a1, Atlanta, GA, USThis month we're going to be discussing the broader topic of identity and privacy. We'll start with watching a short video to set the stage and then have a recap of the recent TABConf "Web Of Trust" conclave. After we've been "primed" we'll have an open discussion then roll out to dinner.
This meetup will not be dedicated as technical or not-technical Some topics we cover may be more developer focused, and others will be simpler stuff. If the meetup grows, we can think about whether we need dedicated developer nights or not.
What is Nostr?
A simple way to think of nostr is as a censorship-resistant social media protocol. In other words, instead of social media being owned by large tech giants, it could be a free and open protocol, the way email is.However, nostr is being used for much more than just building social media apps. Nostr flips the current internet paradigm of "dumb client/smart server" to "smart client/dumb server", by using relays and public-key cryptography. Nostr empowers users to control their own data.
