Derrick Kearney is leading us through a presentation/discussion of "Better Know A Skill: Matt Pocock's Skills for Engineers".
In this installment of Better Know A Skill, we will explore a few of Matt Pocock's skills for planning work for AI agents. The grill-with-docs, /to-prd, and to-issues skills can be used to build a plan for work that needs to be completed and then split the plan into smaller tasks that can be handed to multiple AI agents running in a parallel. What makes these skills different is that they incorporate classic design patterns from seminal texts, like A Philosophy of Software Design by John Ousterhout and The Pragmatic Programmer by David Thomas and Andrew Hunt, showing that classic software engineering skills still matter in our current AI obsessed world. In this talk, we will review how these skills work and use them to start building a project.
