What we’re about
When Attachment Theory was first introduced in the last century, researchers identified four distinct Attachment Styles to describe how children related emotionally and behaviorally to their caregivers.
Later studies deepened this understanding: much like DNA encodes the blueprint for how our bodies replicate at the cellular level, our Attachment Style encodes the blueprint for how we replicate relational dynamics. The characteristics of the bonds we learned from our caregivers in early childhood --and from other intense and repeated relationship experiences-- are often replayed unconsciously in the psycho-social, emotional, and behavioral characteristics of our adult relationships.
The encouraging news is that, unlike DNA, our Attachment Style is not fixed. With increased awareness, new skills and intentional practice, we can revise our attachment styles, move toward secure attachment; and create healthier, more balanced, present and fulfilling relationships with ourselves and others.
Each MeetUp.com event hosted by the Attachment Pathway will explore one of the many elements of Attachment Styles in a group format and will host questions and answers at the end.
