November Meetup - Game audio tips with Matt Piersall of GL33k
Details
For our November event, we're excited to present Matt Piersall, founder of the local game audio company GL33k. He'll help demystify the practice of game audio and provide tips for effectively working with audio creators to ensure that your game has excellent sound effects and music. He'll also explain why it's important for a game to have great sound and discuss common pitfalls that he sees in this realm.

For over 10 years, Matt has been creating sound effects and music for high-profile games. Some of the projects he's been involved with include Metroid Prime 2-3, Disney Epic Mickey 1-2, Halo 4, Mushroom Men, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Guitar Hero 3-5, 'Splosion Man, Tony Hawk's Project 8, Ghostbusters, Arkham Origins Blackgate, Orcs Must Die 1-2, Age of Empires Online, and many more!
Matt founded GL33k (http://www.gl33k.com/) in 2006 as a collective of like-minded game audio experts who work both individually and jointly on a range of projects. The GL33k crew is capable of sound design (using Foley recording and industry standard software like ProTools), implementation (using a variety of game engines and middleware tools), voice recording (complete with direction and editing), and music composition (using a range of electronic and acoustic instruments). Recently, GL33k has tackled audio for a number of mobile titles, including Waking Mars, Triple Town, and Dragon Academy.

Based on this wealth of experience, Matt has seen how today's top publishers and studios handle game audio. He's witnessed great tools and processes in action, and also seen situations where the audio team's job was unnecessarily difficult (leading to extra costs or subpar audio). He'll share tips for how to avoid these pitfalls and ensure that your game sounds top notch!
