Intro to Service Design (and Optional Design Review with UXPA)
Details
Join us for an evening of creative exploration, practical feedback and real connections with Austin's design community!
For our first ATX Design Jam this season, we're bringing together UX professionals, service designers, students, and curious minds for a collaborative evening of learning and networking in this joint event with Austin User Experience Design Professionals (UXPA)!
We're partnering with UXPA for portfolio reviews, while introducing service design through an interactive session and hands-on design activity.
Leave with fresh ideas, practical design skills, meaningful connections, and an opportunity to help shape the future of the ATX Design Jam community.
Note: This listing is for ATX Design Jam members who are interested in learning about service design and attending the mini-design sprint. If you would like to GET a portfolio review, please sign up here.
Whether you're looking for portfolio feedback, exploring a new design discipline, or simply hoping to meet other designers, this month's meetup will have something for you.
What to Expect
1. Intro to Service Design - Curious about service design? Discover how service design goes beyond individual screens and products to improve the entire experience people have with organizations, services, and systems.
We'll explore:
- What service design is and how it relates to UX
- How people, processes, and touchpoints work together
- Real-world examples of service design
- Journey mapping and identifying opportunities for improvement
2. Mini Design Sprint - Put service design into practice through a short, collaborative activity. Working in small groups, we'll map a journey, identify challenges, and brainstorm ideas. No special tools or previous experience needed -- just bring your curiosity and willingness to learn!
3. UX Portfolio Reviews (in breakout rooms, in partnership with UXPA Austin)
Get practical feedback on your portfolio, resume, or LinkedIn profile from fellow design professionals. Whether you're job searching, transitioning into UX, or refining how you present your work, this is an opportunity to get fresh perspectives and make meaningful connections.
