Workshop: Using MCPs

Model Context Protocols: The Missing Layer in Your AI Workflow
This is a hands-on workshop for developers with at least some coding experience — vibe coding counts.
Bring a laptop with VS Code and Claude Code (Pro plan is fine) or your preferred AI coding setup already installed. If you're not set up yet, join anyway for the presentation and pair up with someone on the exercises.
In this session we'll be diving deep into MCPs (Model Context Protocols) — what they are, why they matter, and how they unlock a whole new level of capability in your AI workflow.
We'll cover the parts most tutorials skip: how MCPs actually work under the hood, which ones belong in every developer's toolchain, and how to wire them into your existing setup.
We'll walk through a production-style MCP configuration, then run live demos showing the difference between working with and without the right MCPs in place. The main presentation will be shown on a central screen so everyone can follow along.
From there, the session becomes audience-led — we'll explore the MCPs you should have on day one, discuss real-world use cases, and workshop how to integrate them into your projects. If time allows, we'll even get into building your own MCPs from scratch.
Whether you're hearing about MCPs for the first time or looking to level up your setup — this session is for you.
