3D used to mean weeks of modelling. Now you can walk around a room with a phone and be standing inside it in a headset an hour later. Gaussian splats, blender, AI-generated assets and smarter AR are changing who gets to build in 3D, and how fast.

This is a demo and discussion session on 3D, virtual reality and augmented reality, and on what AI is changing in each of them. We'll capture and view scenes on screen, walk through the pipelines behind finished pieces, and talk about what's worth building on today.

We'll explore:

  • The state of 3D, VR and AR. What's production-ready, what's still a tech demo, and what has changed since the last time you looked.
  • Gaussian splatting. What a splat actually is, how it differs from photogrammetry and meshes, and why it took off so quickly.
  • AI-generated 3D. Text-to-3D, image-to-3D and AI-assisted texturing, and where each one saves real time.
  • AR in the real world. Anchoring, occlusion and scene understanding, and how AI is making the phone camera more useful.
  • Cost and speed. What a finished scene really costs in time, compute and storage, and when running things locally makes sense.
  • What's coming next. Generated worlds, live splats and AI characters, and which of them are worth paying attention to now.

No prior background assumed. Whether you're a content creator, dev, or enthusiast, this is for you.

Afterwards we usually continue over dinner nearby, a good chance to connect with fellow builders and practitioners.
