Bring a real life problem here. And leave with a working product.
What is one thing about living, working, moving around, or building a business in Auckland that should work better?
Fix One Thing: Auckland is a hands-on build session for founders, operators, executives, product people, designers, developers, AI builders, and anyone who has been sitting on an idea they want to finally turn into something real.

This is not about networking around a name badge. It is about finding people who care about the same problem, building something together, and seeing how far you can take it in one afternoon.

💡 How it works

When you register, you’ll be invited to submit a real problem or product idea.
The strongest ideas will be collected into a live ideas board. On the day, you can browse the board, choose the problem you care about most, and find other people who picked the same one. Teams of up to four will form around shared problems. Then you build.

Using Base44, your team will take the idea as far as possible during the afternoon. Once your prototype is ready, you’ll have the chance to pitch it to the judges and compete for a share of the NZ$1,200 prize pool.
And if you want to take the idea even further, IgniteAI.nz can help you explore the next step through a startup founder coaching session.

👉 Important: RSVP’ing here does not replace the official Auckland Startup Week registration. Please register through the official event page to secure your place. This is an event in collaboration with Startup Week. If you want to join, please RSVP here: https://www.aucklandstartupweek.com/programme-2026/fix-one-thing-auckland-with-base44

The goal is not just a pitch deck or a throwaway prototype.

The goal is to create something working that you can test, share, improve, keep building, and potentially turn into something much bigger after Auckland Startup Week. If you want to continue, you can take it to IgniteAI.nz for startup coaching to make it a real business.

No coding experience is required.

Product thinking, design, technical skills, industry knowledge, storytelling, customer insight and commercial thinking all matter.

🏆 Build something worth continuing

The strongest teams will pitch their solutions to the judges, with NZ$1,200 in prizes for the top three teams.

🥇 NZ$600
🥈 NZ$400
🥉 NZ$200

But the most valuable outcome may be what happens after the event.

You may leave with:

  • a working product
  • a new team
  • a clearer understanding of the problem
  • potential users or customers
  • and possibly the beginning of a new business

🚀 From idea to startup — IgniteAI Founder Coaching

For members of the winning teams who want to keep developing their idea after the event, we are also offering the opportunity to book a founder video coaching session with IgniteAI.

IgniteAI (https://igniteai.nz) is a New Zealand not-for-profit startup community founded by the organisers behind Auckland AI Meetup.

Its mission is to help AI-driven startups find product-market fit and then build their products faster, better, and cheaper.

The coaching session is designed for teams who look at what they built and think:

Could this actually become something?
Together, we can explore questions such as:
Who is the real customer? How painful is this problem?Would people actually use or pay for the solution?
What should we test next?
What should we build—and what should we not build?
Could this become a sustainable startup?
The build session gets you from problem to product.

IgniteAI can help you think about what comes next.

Problem → Team → Product → Customers → Startup 🚀

👥 Who should come?

This event is especially suited to people who understand real problems and want to do something about them.

You might be:

  • a founder with an idea you have never had time to build
  • an operator who sees inefficient processes every day

  • a developer or AI builder
  • someone working in Auckland who thinks a service could work much better
  • someone with domain knowledge but no coding experience
  • or simply someone who has been thinking, “Why doesn’t somebody fix this?”

You do not need to be technical.

You do need to care about solving something real.

💻 What to bring

Bring your laptop.
More importantly, bring a problem.
It could be something frustrating about living in Auckland.
Something inefficient in your industry.
Something your customers struggle with.
Something your company still handles manually.
Or an idea that has been sitting in your notes for the last two years.
You don’t need a finished solution.
That is what the afternoon is for.
Come with a problem. Leave with a product, and potentially the start of your next business.
