NZ Antarctic Society Auckland Branch Mid-winter dinner

Details
The Auckland Branch of the New Zealand Antarctic Society is pleased to invite you to celebrate the winter solstice with a mid-winter dinner, this year at the Remuera Golf Club.
Our after dinner speaker has been from one extreme to the other, Auckland Airport Firefighter Laura Andrews, went from the busiest place in New Zealand to the most isolated place in the world last year. Laura was part of the Antarctic Heritage Trust team who skied for 50 days from the edge of the Antarctic Continent to the geographic South Pole to celebrate 150 years since the birth of the Norwegian polar explorer, Roald Amundsen. Alongside four others, she experienced extreme isolation and the raw beauty of the Antarctic Continent as they made the nearly 1000km journey. Laura is a keen adventurer in the pursuit of physical and mental challenges and has previously walked the length of Te Araroa, Te Waipounanu, cycled the length of the country along the Tour Aotearoa route, participated in the two day and one day iconic Coast to Coast, completed an Ironman and the multi-day Godzone Adventure Race.
