May 2025 Meetup: XR Prototyping

Welcome to our May AR/VR meetup - on Wednesday, May 28th at 6:45pm for a 7pm start.

As usual, this will be held at the Auckland Bioengineering Institite Building (70 Symonds St) at the University of Auckland.

Until recently it was very time consuming to create AR/VR/XR applications and demos. However, over the last few years a number of tools have been developed the enable even non programmers to create engaging XR experiences. Now anyone with an idea for an XR experience can see it come to life.

This month we will have a presentation and demos related to XR prototyping. I will give a remote presentation of several popular and useful tools for both mobile AR and immersive VR. Then we will have hands on with several AR/VR prototyping tools for the Quest.

Feel free to bring along some of your own work or ideas to show as well. It'll be good to have a discussion about how you develop your own experiences.

As always, the meetup will be at 70 Symonds St. The building entrance will be locked, so when you arrive please txt Mairi at 027 446 0164 to get in, or look for the students outside.

We will have pizza and drinks.. Pizza will arrive by 6:45pm, so arrive early.
