[MTB] FourForty Mtb Park - Auckland - WEATHER DEPENDENT

Details

Kings Birthday is the absolute last day of the season, this will be your last chance before spring to ride here.

TOTALLY WEATHER DEPENDANT
The weather is supposed to be clearing over the next couple of days and if we are lucky the 3 dry and windy days prior to monday will dry the trails out enough…. If not i will cancel.

If you are interested put your name down now and we’ll make the final call as we get closer.

FourForty is a mountain bike park one hours drive from Auckland City boasting downhill descents of 440 meters in vertical height. The trails cater for beginner to expert riders, and have a dedicated uphill trail to access the lower half of the park as well as a shuttle uplift service.

LOCATION
Fourforty Mountain Bike Park is located about 1 hours drive south east of the Auckland CBD between Kawakawa Bay and Orere Point.
For GPS purposes the address of the park is 521 Kawakawa - Orere Road https://goo.gl/maps/RK9vF8KJ9Bu, but please don't enter the actual driveway of 521 instead take the next driveway south of this address - that is the entrance. We will meet at the big wooden shed which is the park office and the shuttle loading point.

PASSES & PARK RULES
You will need to purchase a day pass to be able to ride here - you can see the pass options available in their shop, including pre-bookings or private group shuttle options:
https://www.fourfortymtbpark.co.nz/park-information/

6 uplifts $59.00
10 uplifts $85.00
10 uplifts family/shareable $89.00
20 uplifts $145.00
50 uplifts $325.00
Park access and uphill trails only $15.00

An uphill pass gets you access to approximately half the parks elevation and trails - includes access to uphill trails/roads and trails, asphalt pump track. Excludes shuttle access.

Please take note the following details:

  • You must sign a waiver before riding at FourForty
  • There is no access to the trails without a pass
  • Riding up the shuttle road is not permitted for safety reasons
  • Appropriate gear must be worn at all times. Helmets compulsory, knee pads strongly advised (Full face helmets compulsory when riding the Ruapehu DH track only)
  • They reserve the right to deny access to the trails if any gear to be used is unfit for use in the Bike Park.

WHAT TO BRING
The park does cater for beginner riders but its a good idea to bring adequate protection. Please remember to bring the following when visiting the park.

The following gear is recommended when visiting the park.

  • Knee pads
  • Gloves
  • Certified helmet, this can be an open face or full face helmet.
  • A well serviced and safe bike that is suitable for serious off road use
  • Solid riding shoes, no jandals/flipflops or open top footwear.

Besides your usual riding gear bring a tube, pump and tools to make basic repairs if required and enough water for about 3-4 hours of riding and snacks during the ride as well as a packed lunch.
There is a cafe/bakery in Clevedon if you want to grab something on the way. Bring a chilly bin if you like to keep your lunch and drinks cool as we will probably go back to the car for lunch at about 12:00 for around half an hour.

BIKE HIRE
If you would like to hire a bike they have a fleet of full suspension Transition Patrol 160mm or Spire 170mm travel trail bikes for rent. They are available in sizes small, medium and large. Pre booking is required. Pricing and details are as follows.
Transition Patrol/Spire trail bikes

  • Half day $95
  • Full day $139.00

POST RIDE
We usually stop in at the Hallertau Beer Garden in Clevedon on the way home for a craft beer, wine or non-alcolohic drink and a chat about how the days riding went...

CANCELLATION
Also beware that if there is bad weather/rain the Bike Park sometimes closes for safety reasons. Be sure to check their Facebook https://www.facebook.com/FourfortyMountainBikePark page or website before heading out to get the latest updates.

I'll see you there!
