[GRAVEL] Waitoki-Riverhead Forest Social ride 43-49km
Details
43-49kms, 600m elevation, allow 3.5hrs including stops
Switching up the start point to Waitoki is an excuse to support the new cafe Gather and Graze at the end of the ride (formerly DD's). The ride begins on tarseal to warm up and becomes more interesting & hilly when we hit the gravel. Finishes through a well hidden, flat grass/dirt track - Waitoki's best kept secret.

PACE:
Social, no drop. Faster riders, expect to wait at the top of hills. Upload the GPS file if you're on a fast skinny gravel bike in case you get in front of me.
SKILL LEVEL:
Gravel newbies welcome. This is a chance to get used to the sensation of riding on a variety of gravel surfaces – smooth, loose and chunky patches. You must be able to cope with riding multiple hills or walk the odd one.
SUITABLE BIKES:
Tyres need to have tread, so road bikes are unsuitable. 35mm wide tyres are the recommended minimum width but it will be quite uncomfortable. Hardtail mountain bikes, flat bar and drop bar gravel bikes are most suitable.
WHAT TO BRING:
Water, snacks, puncture repair kit and a spare tube, rain jacket if weather looks uncertain.
WEATHER/RIDE STATUS:
Check back here the night before if in doubt.
RSVP
If you sign up then decide to pull out before the day, please update your RSVP so others have a chance to come.
