Details

We are going to make this ride a semi regular weekly thing unless both Dave and myself are unavailable.

Basically one or both of us will host depending on who is in town at the time - if neither of us are around we will either cancel the ride or ask if there are volunteers within the RSVP's who are happy to lead/host the others.

Sun 8:45 AM
Massey University Albany (Rear Car Park by the Gym)
Drive into University Avenue and keep going left until you reach an open car park and park on the southern boundary.

ABOUT THE VENUE
The RAT is an intensive single track jam-packed into a small section of forest behind the Albany Campus of Massey Uni. The tracks aren’t overly wide and will test your technical abilities at every turn however it is well constructed.

See RAT.org.nz (http://www.RAT.org.nz) for course details or see the track map below Expect about a 1.5 hrs for first exit, plus (more if keen) , finishing at the location by the Cell Tower.

MEETING POINT
Meet in the Massey Uni Albany Carpark (up the back by the Uni Gym) by NO LATER than 8.45 so everyone can have time to get their equipment ready.Via University Avenue!

At 9.00am we will ride out the back of the carpark down to where we will jump over the gate and head up the access track to the RAT to the start. (Bush Rd)

MTB bikes only - no hybrids

SKILL LEVEL
Great location for intermediate riders to increase skill levels but the track is also okay for beginners - especially those who have a bit of riding under their belt so that you have enough confidence and enthusiasm to at least try and keep up with the intermediate riders amongst us.

We do stop on regular intervals to regroup so don’t be too concerned about getting dropped off the back - you won’t be left behind for long.

Rick & Dave

Special Note: As we head into winter, the tracks will inevitably get more and more wet and soft (these are not sandy like woodhill) so you should expect to get somewhat muddy - the amount of mud will vary depending on how much rain we have had during the preceeding week. This is a good way to test your skills.
