The ups and downs of working in Accessibility (using tennis as a metaphor)

Details

Working in accessibility can be great! Working in accessibility can be … difficult.

Maria Guichard and Steve Barnett, Senior Digital Accessibility Anaylsts at Xero at Xero will take you through some of the experiences they’ve had working in accessibility across different roles and companies.

They’ll share the ups and downs, and what keeps them going when the going gets tough.

Working in accessibility can be a bit like a game of tennis. It seems like an Ace idea. It’s a great chance to Serve our customers. It can give us an Advantage over our competitors. But the Net result depends on a lot of things.

• We’ll talk about some of the good things. That will help us spot them more easily, and appreciate them more.
• We’ll talk about some of the bad things. That will help us watch out for them, and find workarounds or ways to deal with them.
• All presented in a tennis-like back and forth between Maria and Steve.

Note: no knowledge of tennis is required, and only a little knowledge of accessibility.
