Kia Ora everyone - on 30th November (Saturday), we are going to visit the Mataia Homestead near the Kaipara harbour.

๐บHistory background:โจMataia Homestead, a Gardner family treasured since 1868, was built in 1891 and restored in 2005. Surrounded by gardens recognized by the NZ Gardens Trust, hosts Jenny and Shane Hood, the sixth generation on Mataia. We could also see the stunning Kaipara harbor and lovely bush in this track.

โฐDuration: up to 3.0 - 4.0 hours hike & explore, including stops.
๐ Estimated distance: 11-13 km.
๐ง๐ป Estimated total ascent: 210m.
๐ถ SPEED: Medium slow.
๐ช DIFFICULTY: 2.5 on our 1-5 scale.

-- Be a member of Auckland Hiking Group.
-- Follow our instructions based on safety concern and team management procedures
-- Be signed up on Going list before event starts.
-- Be able to walk back to the carpark with the group.
-- NO JEANS, GUESTS, CHILDREN, ANIMALS OR SMOKERS.

๐โ๏ธTRANSPORT AND CARPOOLING:
Carpooling is recommended due to the high price of fuel. Please comment when you rsvp whether you need a 1) lift / can offer lifts , 2) which part of Auckland you come from and 3) your mobile number ( optional ) ;
โ ๏ธ Make sure your meetup private message is available to communicate and check it regularly;
$15/person recommended to pay for the driver.

๐ TIME GUIDELINE:
11:00 - Good time to arrive at the carpark, meet & greet;
11:10 - Latest time to arrive at the carpark and get ready;
11:12- Introduction and start hike;
15:00 - Approx end hike;
15:30 - afternoon tea (optional) ;โจ
17:00 - Approx back home.

โ๏ธLunch or snack food.
โ๏ธFootwear suitable for muddy surface.
โ๏ธSun & rain protection.
โ๏ธBags for wet and dirty footwear & clothing.

โ๏ธFirst-aid items (at least for cuts and scratches).

It is important to be well prepared. Before we meet:

๐Prepare everything you need to bring.
๐If you are the driver, have car refuelled or recharged ready to go.
๐ Find and confirm your driver(passengers) whether they go to strawberry picking or going home directly after the hike.
