What we’re about

Chessmates is for anyone who enjoys chess. We welcome both beginners as well as those who more experienced and those who play to win. We are a member club of the New Zealand Chess Federation. Each year we challenge other clubs and organise some tuition in chess for those who want to go a little deeper.
We regularly organise "simuls" against top players.
We meet in the Ellen Melville Centre in Freyberg Square in the city. You are very welcome!

ACPC Building, Auckland
Members of our senior club are going to play our juniors on the 24 May - capped off with some home baked cooking by the juniors' mums and dads.

HOWEVER, DO NOT THINK you seniors can just come in half-baked and win.

Our juniors are GOOD and determined to win.

The photo is them playing Isabelle Ning, the 2023 National Women's Chess Champion. She had to think!

We have 2 or 3 spots for seniors who can't make it to our Wednesday nights. Let me know if you want to play,
