What we’re about

Pub Prattle is inspired by Martin Luther in 15th century, who recognised that people in Germany had given up on going church. So so he went to the local pubs where they were going, and met them there.
Also "the French Salons" of the 18th and 19th centuries were places in Paris especially where people could speak freely on all kinds of topics. Women not only attended and spoke their minds, but actually ran some of them.
The famous cafe, "Les Deux Magots" in the district St Germain de Prés district in Paris was a place in which Pablo Picasso, Jean-Paul Sartre, Bertoldt Brecht, James Joyce and Ernest Hemmingway gathered there to talk about art as well as just gossip.
Pub Prattle is a place to do just that, and to meet others, to chat, to learn new things. to find new friendships and make new relationships, and maybe even make a little bit of difference to our world.
We meet in the Ellen Melville Centre and afterwards adjourn to The Queen's Ferry Tavern in Vulcan Lane, our home pub. You don't need to drink alcohol. It has good alternatives and good food and we can chat without loud music.
Our ground rules are that we respect and listen to each other, we allow each other to say whatever we need and we discuss without ever putting anyone down.
The usual format is that we talk about whatever we wish for about 45 minutes. The groups will not be larger than 9 people. Then we talk in groups of 3 people for about 25 minutes and then come back as a group. In the small groups especially, we can share things that are personal. The intention is to provide a safe place for feedback and insight.
What is said in the pub stays in the pub and confidentially is expected and required.
I hope to see you soon!
